Perhaps in formatting the intended SSD destination drive you multi-partitioned it in such a way as to cause of the problem you encountered with the d-c program you used although that ordinarily would not cause the problem you encountered.Ĥ. Since your 480 GB destination drive contains sufficient disk-space to receive the 200 GB of data remaining on your "source" drive (apparently a 1 TB drive?) there would seem to be no impediment re available disk-space to carry out a successful d-c operation. There's no harm in doing so but it is unnecessary.Ģ. First of all there is NO need to format your destination drive, i.e., the recipient of the clone, prior to undertaking the disk-cloning operation.
The only install option you can get is to the ssd as its the only drive connectedġ. Just click the i dont have a key/serial when it comes up
You need to change boot order so the usb is 1st device If it gives an error message-like no operating system found etc Yes you only have the ssd connected and the usb plugged in You are going to install the windows from the usb-not download it The create media tool already downloaded windows I'm guessing when I boot from the USB that Windows will ask me to download Windows 10 to my SSD? Make sure you boot from the ssd once both drives are connected Yes disconnect the hdd-you do this to make sure the boot record only knows the ssd Do I just remove my HDD and install Windows on my SSD? Wouldn't my HDD still have Windows on it? If I change the boot order to boot from the SSD (which I would've done anyway) what would happen to the HDD? It would still have Windows on it, no? How would I use it as a Storage Device then? I've downloaded Windows to my USB flash drive now. Once the flash drive has windows on it you can still put stuff back on there if space available
The flash drive gets formatted doing it-so anything on it you need copy it to the hdd that has your original windows on it How much space would I need on my Flash Drive for this to work? Re-connect old hard drive and format it if want it for storage Install windows on ssd-once it connects to internet it will activate so just press the i dont have a serial/key during install Use the media creation tool from microsoft-it will download windows for you and install it to cd/dvd/usb flash drive for youĭisconnect the old hard drive leaving only the ssd connected
